Any tips for pitch accent? I used an anki extension to add the accent graphs to my vocab decks a couple of weeks ago. I can hear that there is a difference, but it's still difficult to determine the actual pattern (particularly odaka). It's also slowing down my reviews since I'm focusing on trying to hear it properly, and it's become difficult to maintain my focus for more than a handful of cards at a time.
I can imitate the voice, but lowering the pitches to my regular vocal range makes me feel like I'm no longer matching the pitch changes. It also makes me wonder if I'm simply changing volume instead of pitch... I end up focusing on my pronunciation so much that I end up not focusing on the definition. Basically every card is taking me ~ 25-30 seconds as I replay the audio a dozen times.
So like when guys talk about the chicks they dated, etc?

To be honest, I'm nothing more than a native speaker who acquired Japanese before I knew it, so it's extremely hard for me to give logical, detailed, and convincing explanation of its grammar to an advanced learner like you. Please forgive me for giving up! By any chance, the yotsuba poster or someone else who has a good knowledge of Japanese could answer your question on behalf of a dumbass like me.
don't practice pitch accent on your regular cards that you learn vocab from make separate cards just for pitch accent, for example asking what's the pitch of word X
