It's BART, nigger. Nobody wants to work for the government and nobody wants to work for the local homeless shelter. Just today I watched three separate people do drugs on BART and at least two people shit. The civic center station has at least ~12 people living in it, and every Oakland station has a ~200 person camp under it.

The janny is paid something like $100/hr, moreso than the train operators. But the janny does not get a safe space to do his job, he must approach homeless people and clean them up with spray bottle, hose and mop when they poop. He must pick up broken needles, AIDS infected drug paraphernalia, and politely inform all homeless people that they have to leave prior to close at 9pm. He is also the first person the homeless see when the trains open at 5am. He is in constant danger, surrounded by people who want to hurt him, and cannot leave the BART system until his shift is over.

This would be tolerable if not for how normal people hate janitors, and make messes for them too. You know how black people will leave theaters intentionally dirty so others have to clean it up? It's the same way on public transportation. The janitor cleans up all spit, gum, laundry, and broken toilets. He's the person people throw their garbage at expecting him to toss it for them.

It's not just shoveling shit. It's shoveling shit and customer service. If there's a homeless guy (sorry, "unhoused person") in the lobby shitting himself you need to give him a special card telling him about his rights, and how to get help. He will probably spit on you and call you a nigger. You go to the nearby police officer and ask him to remove the guy, but nope that doesn't happen anymore as the police have no jail or place to put him. So this homeless person now hates you until it does enough drugs to forget, boards a train (without paying) to bother some other station or walks outside to steal more things. You find a big pile of stolen goods and start cleaning it up, then the homeless people who own it find you and threaten your life. You are now stranded in a small mechanical closet until other employees come to assist. But again, they aren't arrested. They find out where you park and wait for you, and either steal your car or beat you up. Then you walk in to find a mentally distressed woman shoving all her laundry down one of the toilets. You try and touch her but she pulls a knife. Ok, bathroom closed. She then has a medical emergency which you are then blamed for. The paramedics come and do nothing because she refuses treatment, so she is dragged outside the front doors to peacefully OD.

Then you get normal people who want to know where the airport is or why it costs $5 to go there. Or they want to know how to go to Silicon Valley when they're on BART (BART does not go to Silicon Valley) and they get upset. Or you find rich asians/europeans/indians who get upset at all the poop, call you lazy and threaten to get you fired. You sit in your office to get away from them, then the police officer shows up and tells you to deal with them because they are bugging him now. Then all the trains stop and the power goes off due to a transformer failure, and suddenly 1,500 people are on the platform and want to kill anyone wearing a BART uniform.

Bus drivers average $100k now, $150k with OT. Nobody wants to do it because fuck OT. Working 60 hour weeks is gay.
