The original scenes starring them were meant to be a lot more gorey. I'm pretty glad Comedy Central censored it a bit desu.
In retrospect, the joke is far from the most disrespectful joke South Park has made. The Christopher Reeves stuff in Crazy Cripples is MUCH worse and takes awya from a super funny plot on top of that.
