opression of russian minorities :(((((
The impossibility of bringing back the Aral sea without demolishing already flimsy economies of these countries.
Kinda unfortunate that the only way to make that land useful is making extensive irrigation networks and growing cash crops.
Uzbekistan produces plenty of cotton due to the aforementioned irrigation networks and has a bit of a textile industry, Tajikistan has exactly one aluminium plant and half of it's economy used to consist of money sent back home from guest workers here in Russia. Also we've got a space-radar complex over there since the Soviet times, I'm pretty sure it's still functional or at least still manned and serviced.
No idea about the other two small boys, likely to be guest workers here too probably, also fun times on Afghan border.
Kazakhstan is holding a slightly more nationalist position compared to Belarus, but they're a fair bit more sane about it than something like Caucasus. Just like Belarus they had a go at a color revolution recently and it got smacked town.
I know little about it's economy.

I sometimes have dreams that take place in that region (not the actual physical place, I just see the map).

There's a tower in Uzbekistan I think that Mongolians used to execute people with by throwing them off the top of
a mecca of post-soviet second world architecture.

Dead Russians
there is no such thing as second-world.
it's either:
first, "the bad guys", or third.
third means either "our charity project", "the bad guys' puppet", or "not allied with us or the bad guys"
"but two comes between one and three!"
it doesn't matter.
they never made a "2nd world" term. it was never needed. we still don't need it.
