It could've been worse. All MCU designs are plasticky, but I like those soldiers, the robes are tasteful, and so on. Him being a fatso past his prime is the "joke", but it only works because it's Crowe and not a rando. The whole thing has those animey grand bullshit aesthetics. It's one way to differentiate it from Asgard by making it more complex and operatic. They could've done more, but it is what it is.

Taika likes Crowe so he did his man a solid. As a Jew he probably doesn't care for the Nordic gods so he's fine throwing whatever bullshit there, but he probably likes the Greek Pantheon enough to keep it more accurate. There's still Isla Fisher as either Hera or Aphrodite and maybe Sacha Baron Cohen as Dionysus or something. Then Herc or Ares may cameo if they're going to set Herc up as the Thor replacement when Hemsworth leaves.
