Given how Kim has arguably handled the cartel shit better than jimmy up until this point (ie managing to get Lalo to leave the first time) its possible she might handle this better than jimmy. Its also possible that she doesn't, and that explains her absence from BB. Lots of interesting ways to handle it

not only was the situation with howard entirely avoidable, jimmy was never even as invested in taking him down as kim was. it was obvious the entire time this could have gotten howard severely injured or killed, and he shows his heart isn't in it multiple times, i.e. humoring howard and letting him beat him up in the boxing ring. without her egging him on, he might have even rejoined HHM, bonded with howard over losing chuck, and become great friends.

it seems like he mostly just went along with the plan to appease kim, which adds a certain contemptible element to his character we haven't really seen. jimmy is pathetic and will do anything if he thinks it'll turn kim on. he abandons the last shreds of his morals so he can look "good" for her. I am now fully invested in watching them both suffer for being such shitbags.
