Budget Kubrick

Good thing Kubrick wins at both, as well as at variety.

Manchild tier.

I'm still confused how someone goes from Blade Runner, which an absolute masterpiece in literally every single aspect, from writing to dialogue to soundtrack to visual design, and so on, to Robin Hood, which looks and sounds like a student film.

>variety
yes

but what has kubrick made for cinema? he made beautiful and interesting movies yes. but i dont see him influencing anyone at such an elemental level with his use of sound, music, dialogue, camerawork

he even influenced kubrick

>from writing to dialogue to soundtrack to visual design
Well, he didn't do any of that. Hampton Fancher and David Peoples wrote it, Vangelis composed the music, and Syd Mead is responsible for most of the visual design.

Imagine thinking Kubrick is better than Leone. Pure reddit

Bresson, Fellini, Lynch, Kurosawa, Cronenberg, and many others. I like Kubrick, but he isn't the be all end all of cinema, nor is he the only director with a prolific but consistent output. Some of his early films aren't all that great, either.

Several incredible films that people continue to watch to this day, that several of the most famous filmmakers cite as their influences.

Yes, but as a director he had at least some oversight, even if it means not fucking up what other people have done (which is the most important role of a director). Surely that implies the ability to recognize good shit, even if one cannot fully create it themselves.

As if Reddit doesn't suck Leone's cock on a daily basis.
