There can't be any good serial killer movies/TV shows anymore because of mass surveillance, you'd have to set it in the 90s at the latest for it to make sense. Even in Se7en for example they already catch the guy by using the computer database to find people who borrowed a specific set of books from the library. That was the last time when these movies could be even remotely good.
And no one really wants to watch period pieces anymore, they're too disconnected from the shit reality.
