I'm trying extremely hard to like it but the AI makes me rage, why the fuck does it CONSTANTLY shuffle my frontlines around and waste tons of time whenever a tiny part of it changes? do I really have to micro everything?

I only play EU4 and CK3. There's too many things in HOI for my brain, you have to manage the fleet, the army, the airforce, the spies, etc...I don't even understand what all the units do.

HOI3 was gimped from the start.
HOI4 has too much bloat and the 3d graphics are bullshit for an autistic map painter where the audience want to see basic icons.

Wait until you see the allies failing to make proper naval landings which has been a problem for decades. 4X games are always let down by the AI and in historical sims will depend on the human playing being a major that seamlessly wins.
So yes, micromanage everything.

Yes army is big but very inferior to germany. France surrenders too easily because of the debuff. Therefore, communist France is forced in Korean multiplayer.
