I just learned that apparently Americans don't use handbrakes. They call it an "emergency break" and only use it when it's hilly, sometimes.

Is this actually true or am I being bamboozled?

>They call it an "emergency break"

I thought that was a bong thing.

Shut your mouth, boy

what the fuck do you need a hand break for
just use your foot
keep both hand on the wheel at ALL times chud

E brake. I use it when my cars out of gear. Never thought leaving it in first was the right way to park

why would I use it? just put the car in park lmao

I live in Florida, the only time I’ve ever used an emergency brake was when I rented a car in California and had to park it on a hill, Florida is flat

some people always use it because of malarkey like
>the transmission's parking pawl will break if you don't use the parking brake
or
>if you don't use the parking brake regularly then it'll stick and become unusable
i only use it on steep hills

You're supposed to use your foot to brake dumbshit

It's called parking your car in gear have you yuros ever driven a manual before?

>euros need to use the handbrake to drift
sad. Also we call it e-brake, parking brake, and handbrake depending on who you ask.

It is however, not a good idea to overuse your handbrake. The mechanism relies on a cable, and if you wear it out the cable will not longer be taut.

>emergency break
kek. just why. it's the handbreak to drift.

It is, chud.

disgusting truck owner

I disagree, chud

Be respectful. Other countries can't afford brake pads and art use the emergency brake

I engage the parking brake every time I park my car. It is located the left of the brake.

>Imagine not just parking in gear
lmao

I think you might be trolling but I'll amuse you and give my ass blasted american response

>Is this actually true or am I being bamboozled?
it's true you retard. why would you use the handbrake for anything other than for when you're parking on a hill or something? why damage the handbrake by using it when you're driving? that's what the foot break is used for. that's why it's there. the handbrake is there to ensure the car doesn't roll when you're parking it somewhere.

Chud, when in gear the car doesn't move. Try parking on a hill on first without handbrake. It will roll couple millimeters then lock in place.

see

Idk I just break by using the clutch and go down in gear

I don't park on hills because I live in a flat part of the country, but I guess there's no way you could have known that... chud
