Solar panels were garbage 45 years ago, and were still not very efficient or profitable 10 years ago.
The US cannot look into the future and invest. They want quick dividends that will pay out in the short term, in 1-2 years time.
China doesn't give a fuck, and they will invest, at a loss, for 10+ years, until they come out on top and dominate a market.

Yea i know what the problem is im talking about energy production during the day. Obviously coal, gas and oil are more flexible and can be burned on demand but if you want to save energy you should still install solar panels to use during the day and save those flexible energies when you need them. Nobody has said to fully go to solar

Yeah, I'm not talking about going full solar. But we're at the precipice of solar being extremely viable. Every major country should have a mix of renewables. For countries like Canada/Norway, yeah, they can rely solely on hydro. But for other rich nations, there's no excuse not to have 25% solar/wind/nuclear/others, or go even more green.
