we had something similar (but without the drone, just a regular delivery guy comes to it) for many years they put these around areas with stores or the neighborhood minimarket usually. the thing in OP is just this but you replace a guy in a car/van with flying drones which ideally makes it faster and reduces road congestion.

Ironically, Africa has the most advanced drone delivery system on the planet.

theyre a US company but in terms of range and speed yes they are pretty groundbreaking. they do super long range (160km) deliveries super fast (100 km/h).
the disadvantage of their system is a complicated launch\retrieval system (catapult+wire) and you cant do soft delivery they just drop the package on the target. also the payload is very small like 2kg.
there's an israeli company that's building drones for a similar niche, pic related but it's a VTOL so it can land and take off at the destination.

>5 kg payload
but it's a mix of LiPO batteries and fuel cells for when it's flying on the pusher motor.
i also saw a bunch of other drone startups using fuel cells to get better performance multirotors.
