All the scenes with the killer were incredibly tense and harrowing but Gyllenhaal, Downey Jr and Ruffalo's trifecta of obsession got a bit tired and it felt generic by the final act. I think Zodiac is overrated.

I get your criticism of Zodiac 100%, I didn't like any of the lead characers and I felt Downey Jr was useless. It could have been edited down I think, it felt a little bloated
but for me the GOOD scenes of Zodiac are better (such as the killing scenes, the meeting with Allen, the basement scene)

I really like the sequence where Plummer' character is recounting the events of the day of the disappearance to Craig's character. The pace, music and editing are absolutely outstanding.
