The Rock still makes them, like Jumanji and JTTCOTE, but they're soulless trash.

Dude they just released Indiana Jones for millennials, repackaged for zoomers, with Uncharted. And like said there is Jumanji.

You say this as though jumanji isn’t 10+ years old

I watched the sequel and thought it was okay. Never saw the third movie. Why do people dislike the third?

Y'all want some pol approved fun, check out chuck Norris firewalker. Indiana Jones wannabe but loads of dumb fun.

Jumanji with the Rock came out in 2017.

Jungle Cruise.

It's easier to make the same movie 27 times.

the key to the success of the Mummy, which nobody brings up, is the abundant slapstick comedy peppered throughout the film

Love dis movie you're cool op

No not quips!

Oh, now you've done it.

They became cgi shit fest around 2008. Which is why they lost their appeal. Those new Jumanji movies are so fucking soulless it hurts

slapstick, just look at this bookshelf gag. pure chaplin slapstick

>pog

>campfire mysteriously goes out
>"That happens a lot around here."

If it were a Marvel movie, people would complain about that line.

Imagine if the last bookshelf didn't fall over and you had to redo that take all over again.

Kino.

The difference between that and marvel is that this movie doesn't take itself too seriously in the first place.
Jonathan is an outright comedic character from the start. Even Evy starts out with a comedy scene to introduce her.

Marvel tries for grandeur as well as funny one-liners, but lacks the slapstick or environmental humor and it falls flat.

>too seriously in the first place.
Dude, c'mon...

If it were Marvel, the actor would lean into the gag waaay too much as if to say “GET IT??!!” completely ruining the timing. Notice how quick, punchy, and earnest Brendan says that line.
I have sat in Marvel films where there’s a legitimately good line every now and then, but it’s either ruined with delivery or quickly trampled by another joke that bombs.

Dude, marvel nowadays has its writers thinking they're doing the world a great service by writing capeshit. Takes itself way too seriously.

The genre got elevated to kino but apparently no one was able to follow

Actual answer: to make one that doesn’t look / feel completely soulless you need to shoot on location which means multiple productions across the globe which costs a lot of money compared to green screen garbage.

There’s also no guaranteed return which means you could potentially be investing a whole lot of money for a gigantic flop (see: Sahara).

why do you like it? tried watching both of them and they were kinda boring nd had zero of the mummy kino factor
