And somehow the critics love one and hate the other.

conan has a 66% WTFFFFFFF
I seem to recall James Earl Jones being a bad guy was something people bitched about, but he's one of only two actors to ever upstate AHNULD. Guess the other.
Thulsa Doom >>>>>>>>>> Vader
Agree.
He also fucks and mindbreak this cute.
The Chad Not Even Fazed vs the Virgin Crying Like a Girl
>SOVL vs soulless
Why did Eggers try to make Conan, but worse? At least he could have tried for a more mature take on the nature of revenge
A hack will always be a hack.
because in 2022 half the cast must be negro
In the commented version of the movie Millius says that in this scene Thulsa Doom contemplates the sword and the beauty of sword because he was still after the solution of the Riddle of Steel and he still hasn't reached the conclusion of the power of the flesh.
holy fucking kino
Yea, What I like about it though is the very last part when you see that moment when Conan has lost something (That in the context of the movie he couldn't let go of) And Thulsa has gained something (That in the context of the movie he eventually outgrows).
Why? Because one movie is a mans movie and another movie is for a cuck. Will men quote the Northman in 30 years? I say NAY. The lessons of the WHEEL OF WOE will go unto eternity and beyond and those who seek it will know what it is to be a man.
His serene calmness just adds to his creepiness.
Such a great scene.
>more mature take on the nature of revenge
conan's take is pretty mature already: thulsa doom's final speech tells conan he's sacrificed everything for revenge and he's like a father to him. conan kills him anyway (never trust a snake after all) but with what he's learned through his journey and an iron will he'll become a new man.
northman's take is just fucking sad: oh yeah he lived only for revenge and now he died but he happy tho :) to valholl norse sisters!
I highly recommend watching the version with the director's and Arnie's commentary.
He explains the importance of this scene and how he wanted to emulate Captain Ahab's sentiment in Moby Dick when the captain wonders what his life would be like if he didn't spend 40 years at sea chasing the whale.
He wanted Conan to also express the same thoughts in that moment before the final battle.
Just a reminder that this scene is in the extended version of the movie. Which was originally intended by Millius.
