>needing to be told why a movie is good
>can't form your own opinions
>defending the prequels
user, your life is off-track, you still have time to course correct though.
I watched the prequels on release and loved them from the start.
Pretending they're bad is one of those retarded internet fads, like saying pineapple on pizza or raisins on cookies is bad. It's for troglodyte faggots who can't understand good taste.
Part 1
>2 hours 19 minutes
Part 2
>3 hours 42 minutes
That's 1 less hour than just watching all 3 fucking prequels again.
You know how you have your one friend who tries really hard to convince you to watch something, and then it turns out to be shit, but that friend defends it anyways.
That's the prequels.
>Pretending they're bad is one of those retarded internet fads
It's not pretending, because it was real before most people had the internet. It was pop culturally acceptable to make fun of the prequels, before the internet took off. RLM just made it big, for organizing people into groups, rather than just being dispersed individuals.
I remember watching each of the prequels in theaters with my friends, and each movie being more and more confused on why people like Star Wars, and concluded that they liked the space wizards and lazer sword fights and didn't care about any other moment. Then just pretended to care about the fall of Vader, because the time skips ruined all of the storytelling, because everything interesting was implied to happen off-movie(then the cartoon confirmed it was all always shit, and we were just being tricked by a mystery box). Lucas can no longer write or direct, and he couldn't 20 years ago either.
>the prequels are go-
Watch the Plinkett reviews.
As someone who used to look forward to the next review, they aren't actually that good. They just got people to stop memeing about Jar Jar for long enough to get people to use their brains about why the prequels are bad. The RLM reviews are more of a historical pop culture document, than an actual review now. Any internet discussion that isn't website bias towards the prequels will offer far better criticism at this point.
Don't get me wrong. What RLM did was a net positive, but we've made much better progress since.
Not that we really needed it, because the prequels are shit, and you don't need video essays to tell you that. People just need video essays to tell them that they're secretly good, and that everyone is wrong.
Any Forums just jumped on the prequels are good meme, because Any Forums is the eternal contrarian. In a few years, once reddit has further polluted this site, there's going to be a strong backlash against the prequels here.
Worley's videos weren't really reviews though. The Prequel video was a mix of analysis and critiquing Cuckmann/Plinkett, and his Special Edition video felt more like a documentary.
I don't need reviews to tell me the movies are good anyway. I have eyes for that

>get people to use their brains
When did that happen? People are still just parroting eceleb points to this day
HACK
Prequels aren't the type of moviess.that you can really recommend to someone. And it's not just because they're bad. Most Star Wars movie are bad. People usually don't recomment cartoons or some other things people are expected to grow out of and Star Wars is a franchise with diminishing popularity. It's been destroyed in so many years since 1997 it's just sad to see people not able to let their toys go.
>the prequels are based
Yes.
Of course you're going to get people parroting eceleb ideas, look what thread you're in. It happens with any belief.
But you're lying if you think that the discourse level hasn't raised since the early 00s about what the problems with the prequels are.
Before it was Jar Jar and Vader being a faggot bitch.
Those do still exist, and that's because they're both true, but there's a ton of other things people talk about.
The biggest surprise is how willing people are to rationalize liking the prequels.
You'd never see the current lengths gone to. It was usually more of "Yeah, but I still like them, even with the flaws" or "where else are you going to get such cool special effects action?". Now people want you to believe that the prequels are "high art" and it's your fault for not realizing it.
The only discourse level I've seen raised lately is in people praising the Prequels, it's the first time in 20 years people have even tried to analyze them, and funnily enough once you actually watch the movies without TRYING to hate them, all the great stuff in there becomes perfectly clear.
Where exactly are these deep commentaries on their problems? Because I certainly haven't seen any yet, it's the same handful of complaints neckbeards have had since the 90s
>don't like CGI
>can't self-insert
>I didn't understand it
>prequels come out
>they fucking suck
>little kids watch the prequels before they are old enough to comprehend them
>grow up
>'wtf people are shitting on those movies i remember fondly from when i was in diapers and havent see in over a decade?'
>suddenly hordes of delusional nostalgia goggle fans on the internet
>sequels come out and only make things worse by being even shittier
People defending the prequels are like people defending Rogue One or Solo. Idiots.
Actually, only recently did it get destroyed. Disney and EA tried to milk the cow too hard too fast. Star Wars as an IP was a golden goose. It was selling merch, comics, books, and games without any new shows or movies to sell hype them.
And the quality level of the prequels didn't harm sales either, so the majority of people still liked enough other parts of Star Wars to keep buying all that shit anyways.
You don't recommend the prequels to people, because you don't normally recommend that people watch bad movies.
>nostalgia is the only reason to like or dislike anything
do you exclusively like things you watched as a kid?
Stop advertising your channel, faggot.
...
>The only discourse level I've seen raised lately is in people praising the Prequels
Read the replies, to that then, you'll see them. Literally wait until the next Any Forums prequels thread that doesn't have someone like me pushing meta-conversation, and see what a normal prequels thread looks like. Because they're normally people ripping apart every aspect, from every angle.
Except Duel of Fates.
Everyone loves Dual of the Fates.
