I don't get it
The Straight Story
I don't watch movies with posters like this
he didnt have to do it on his tractor. But he did. because it didnt matter how he got to his brother or how quickly, he wanted to shake up his lfie a little and go out on his own. Also had his eye on gerald's back scratcher down at the corner store
it seems you are suffering from a mild case of L Y N C H E D
What is there not to get bro
old coot wants to do something wacky before he dies. whats not to get?
It's his most experiemental movie.
Simple old man lives in a world that isn't the same as the one he grew up in. He is portrayed as a simple man but we sense a life's worth of regret that is moderated by his impending mortality.
it's a straight story, what don't you get retard
>believe it or not, The Straight Story is my most experimental film
>>explain what you mean by that
>no
Because you gay.
Was the Lynchian twist that the movie was boring as shit?
If you enjoyed this movie, try going down to your local old folks home for 2 hours. At least then when you're watching old people be boring, you'll also be making them happy by hanging out with them.
Lol this movie wasn't that bad. Some cute and funny moments. A clear plot driving towards a goal.
You clearly haven't seen enough actually boring movies.
Lynch's experiment was trying a normal story for the first time and telling it as it is.
>a normal story for the first time and telling it as it is.
The Elephant Man
Dune
Blue Velvet
Wild At Heart
Are those stories normal to you?
Dune is one of the most incoherent movies ever wtf are you talking about
>its called the straight story
>the main character has a retarded daughter
>the retarded daughter had a bunch of kids, but they were taken away, reason not stated
>who's the father of said kids? its stated the retarded girl has lived with her father all her life. was she sneaking out and getting fucked?
>main character is under the most bizarre form of house arrest imaginable, banned from driving, why?
>falling out with brother. reason not stated. they reunite, they say nothing.
david lynch managed to put the disney brand on a movie about a pedophile and rapist, who impregnated his daughter multiple times, who was molesting their kids as well, would be in prison, but managed to argue that his daughter would be lost without him, who raped/molested a transient girl to "teach her a lesson" about how there'd "only be wieners," etc, etc.
the joke is there is nothing straight about this story.
Yes. They're straightforward narratives that don't have major plot points merely represented by some sort of vague visual metaphor, nor do they reject narrative all together for a purely surreal visual experience.
Them having some kooky characters doesn't make them abnormal stories.
take your meds
>reason not stated
Because she's retarded. How did you not put 2 and 2 together?
>banned from driving, why?
Because he's old and sick and falls over randomly.
>who's the father of said kids?
Who cares? He's not in the picture.
>reason not stated
because it doesn't matter. He's over it.
>they say nothing
they don't need to, they're family
How do you not just instinctively know this shit? Why do you need everything spoonfed to you? You really want every film filled with forced exposition to explain non-essential information?
I wish this was true, but according to the old man, the daughter lost her kids cause there was a fire while she was gone and one ended up badly burnt.
Him and his brother got into a fight over something he forgot, but it involved liquor.
And he's banned from driving cause he has bad eyesight.
Boring shit
No, you just HAVE to like watching an old guy think he's all wise and shit even though he's a stupid old hick.
alvin straight is full of shit man.
bruh, he was on a grandfathered precursor to the sex offender registry. he good-ol'boy'd his way out prison for rape, incest, etc.
Wife pays for Disney plus and this was literally the only thing I wanted to watch. Of course it isn't on there.
Filtered by Lynch's best movie
it's lynch's darkest movie. what did the fire mean? if you can't answer you got LYNCHED
filtered for thinking this is the best lynch movie, it was an enjoyable watch with basic themes and the usual 50s style bad acting
it comes off more as a passive-aggressive attack on people who criticized him for being lolrandom.
The fire represented Alvin's hemorrhoids pain after sitting on a lawnmower for 4 days straight
imagine getting filtered this hard and still speaking like you know what you're talking about
>During production, Richard Farnsworth was terminally ill with metastatic prostate cancer which had spread to his bones. The paralysis of his legs as shown in the film was real.[8] He took the role out of admiration for Alvin Straight, and astonished his co-workers with his tenacity during production. Farnsworth died by suicide the following year, at the age of 80.[9]
thats kinda fucked up desu
This would be epic... If it were true and not Qanon tier fanfic.
