It's actually about an Irish hero, but it doesn't matter. You have to look at it in the context of people whose only neighbors were people who looked like them. Smaller differences were observed and conflicts formed that way. Cuchulainn was a hero to HIS people because he was destroying his enemies. This is pagan morality (and it's a good thing!).
