okay ive been looking very hard i think the dog is supposed to represent luna, he's fed traditional phillipine food by his parent in an effort to stay true to phillipine culture as much as possible (referring to his previous comic strip) but him being a 2nd generation asians cannot really "connect" to his phillipine roots hence why he's crying in the 4th panel. in the end he finally accepts phillipine culture and is subservient to a (presumably) white mans hands implying assimilation bad or something
