Why do they speak Russian more than their own native language?
Why do they speak Russian more than their own native language?
they got buck broken by soviets and genocide'd
thats what happened to all ex soviet states (beside balts)
Kazakhstan is a multinational country and Russian is used here as an interethnic language.
But in general in the south of the country Kazakh is more widespread, and in the north there are many Russians, so Russian is more widespread there.
your moms legs were widespread last night lol
>Why do they speak Russian more than their own native language?
Not true
Why did you open my great-grandfather's diary, which he lost in Berlin?!
I'm Belgian (Flemish) but go off queen
oh no no no
why do they speak spanish more than their native languages?
It's a soviet-built country. It didn't exist beforehand.
when Mexicans came over from Spain they slaughtered all the aztecs
If my memory is correct, there were more Russians than Kazakhs especially in cities under the soviet era because most of kazakhs had been nomads who were only sparsely populated.
there's no wonder minority kazakhs had received educations in Russian language quite a while.
the ~80% figure that people throw around only respresents the ability to speak russian at any level. most kazakhs speak kazakh than russian or a mixture of both and it's becoming more and more widespread. also
Russian might not be the world's biggest, easiest or most important language, but it still gives you access to enormous business, cultural and scientific opportunities. When your country has less than 20 million people and most of them speak Russian, you would be shooting yourself in the foot by willingly refusing those opportunities. I don't know the exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure that at least a third of all Kazakh cognitive output is dedicated to translating stuff from Russian to their language.
Why do you speak Spanish more than Aztec?
By the way, if we just measure the amount of printed text in Kazakh language, Russia would confidently trump Kazakhstan by that metric because most products in our country have labels in Russian+Kazakh for some reason.
i'm gonna be real, chief, i dropped all russian content once i learned english. all the sites and youtube channels simply couldn't compete. i even finished my diploma by using english sources more than the russian ones
Pretty good call after learning what the Aztecs were doing before the Castilians arrived
what even makes you think that?
I did the same thing. But we're a minority. According to Wikipedia, 11% of Russians and 15% of Kazakhs speak English. And, well, how much Kazakh sources did you use for your diploma? Was there even any relevant literature on your topic which wasn't translated from English or Russian?
>when Mexicans came over from Spain
holy shit cuman bros we got BTFO
I will go visit Almaty Kazakhstan soon :)
Any tips from Kazakh anons? What to do and what places to visit there?

"Sayakhat" station, especially up the Pushkina street is filled with delicious street food, and young gentlemen will offer you cheap mobile phones, quite good for people who love to collect rare electronics.
