there will be even more as education start being equalized in the provinces, don't worry about it

You know what's funny? The Russians who competed individually have a combined score of 217, which would have made Russia place second had it not been banned lol

Sort through imo-official.org/year_individual_r.aspx?year=2022&column=country&order=asc by country and look at C01 through C06, those are the Russians.

THEY FUCKING CHEATED

Nothing new, amerimutts are a disgrace to mankind

Math olympiad has little to do with producing novel proofs, same is true for competitive programming.

nigga just use a calculator

You can't cheat in this competition, this isn't like your math test in 9th grade. The problems are usually new and require a new solution. Only way to cheat is to somehow know the problems in advance

>1st place is 252
>2nd place is 217

You can't deny IMO medalists are good mathematicians.

I see you can read.
But yeah, amazing performance from China this year. Kudos to them!

VGH, Russians, the non-asians best at maths

Ya I'm just saying it'd be more useful to look at the distribution of contemporary mathematicians who produced important proofs.

But medals are shiny!

Mathematics: it doesn’t matter how long it takes if the end result is a good theorem. Speed is an advantage, but it is not essential.

In my experience, most of these kids enter these competitions because they are extremely hard working and doing maths is all they know. Also, they are pampered by the professors. But it is not necessarily them who have the most talent to do "real math". This competition is like blitz chess, it doesn't necessarily translate into real world ability. 1.5 hours is not a lot of time to solve a question. Professional mathematics involves weeks and months of focus.

It works one way but not the other. For instance, none of this year's Fields Medalists have won at the IMOs.
>non-asians best at maths
More like best at this competition. It's not really Asian dominated as you would think and Russians have contributed a LOT to mathematics, and so have other nationalities. But this competition is dominated by Asians and Russians.
