Texan first, American second. I think the average Texan is a proud and noble people. There is a strong sense of justice here, which is why people don't like the federal government all that much. Much in the way of the confederacy, Texas has always been more on the side of whichever party lets Texas be Texas.
Austin is a neat city with a lot of fun cultural things and music. Comparatively to San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas, it has the most "cool" factor. That being said, not everyone likes the politics or people that live there, so I understand why there is a lot of negativity towards it. I think it's a fine city, and just as Texan as the rest of the state.

It's gone from good to worse than Louisiana. The whole state is a wreck now. You can't drive between cities anymore. It's that bad. The roads are all road work area where no one is working. Most of the exits have meth head tire traps meaning a meth head tire shop owner throws a bunch of torn up tires before the exit to his store on the highway. Tye roads were made incorrectly with substandard materials so they get insanely hot and break Up, cops randomly pull people over. That's just the highways between places. The cities are pretty much all pay 2.75 a trip down a 15 minute toll road or spend an hour in traffic. Last thing. The homeless situation and fentalyn situation is so bad in Texas now. Houston, Dallas, El paso, San Antonio just have homeless everywhere. They don't move the homeless to a localized location so they are everywhere. I had to leave after 7,years but my family has lived there 25. They are all leaving. The weather has gone to shit, broke baby boomers from the midwest and south moved there, after all the hurricanes the blacks moved There, the scum from the west coast moved there.
