"during calorie restriction" implies there's supposed to be a period without calorie restriction. There isn't. Dietary control with CICO in mind is for life. If someone is gaining weight they're consuming more than they're expending. It's not complicated.

Yeah, because if you lose weight then your body uses fewer calories and the calorie "restriction" stops being a restriction and ends up being what's normal for someone that weight.

I lost 20 kilos on keto. It works, but you need to pay attention to portion control. Also you can't stay on it indefinitely. When you're off it you need to try to maintain CICO balance. I try to follow a med diet while I'm off it to slow down any mass gains.
