You sure? Well name one French colonial massacre on the scale of the Herero and Namaqua genocide. Or a famine on the scale of the ones in India.
People like to dunk on French colonialism, but there were no large-scale massacres or famines, the norm in the German, Belgian, and British colonial empires. Most of the bad rep comes from atrocities committed during the Algerian War, but people who argue this ignore what the FLN did to European settlers and fellow Algerians who fought for French rule, as if one group is less worthy of human dignity or something.
We at least brought sound administration and some degree of infrastructure to Africa. A little known fact about the decolonisation process is that popular opinion in many countries wanted to remain part of France, most famously Gabon, but they were forcefully let go of because the alternative was integrating them as full-blown régions with the same rights as the mainland.
Ask literally any West African boomer if their wartorn countries were more stable under French rule. Chances are they'll answer yes, and in fact as someone who's been on humanitarian missions for my major, I can tell you that many will. But the younger generations who are fed cosmopolitan propaganda about colonialism will tell you it was the worst thing ever and they're better off right now, ignoring the fact that it is their fellow Africans, those in power, who make them suffer, while the Western institutions their countries run on are their only factor of stability, if any.

If anyone wants to see how apathetic and barbaric France is, just compare Haiti with literally any other black-majority country in the same region, such as Barbados

Why bring up Haiti when they liberated themselves more than 200 years ago?
