The fact is that Britain is breaking international law by not helping them cross. Idiot right wingers have been told time and time again that is against international law to just let refugees die in the fucking ocean. By law once thy reach your country they must be processed to determine if they're legitimate or illegitimate, which point you then keep or deport them, but you can't before they've been assessed. there are zero consequences for breaking international law. there is no international organisation that will force you to comply. it's simply a tool for rich nations to bully poor nations with, or in this case, an excuse for policymakers to drag their heels.
