they have their own alphabet or something, pretty useless if you ask me

First, you can press the key to write the phonetic characters(kana) in alphabet. then press the space key to convert to kanji. The range to be converted is out of the range where the characters are confirmed by the enter key.

The Jap keyboard is so gay. The Korean keyboard is waaaaayyyy cooler.
