I was watching the Gomorra series (with subtitles) even though I speak bad italian. I was amazed at how many English words they used Like they called the mafia capo "Boss", they called the drug dealing middle man "Il Broker", many of the gang members had English names like "Spiderman" and "Crazy" and a few others I dont remember. Just how Anglicized is modern Italian?

Congrats, you just found out about the global influence of the US.
Every country is the world with the exception of North Korea does this nowadays.

Honestly, thats pathetic.

Don't forget Pitbull

In that context It's just nicknames, people in m*lan legit speak a stupid italian pidgin

It is what it is. When French was the prestige language everyone borrowed from them too. Italian isn't even that bad, Japanese and Korean are way worse.

Also gomorra is not legit Italian culture It's crime porn by (((saviano)))

yeah but I speak bad italian (Napulitan) and they were speaking Napulitan and thye still still said shit like "Ma che staje faccend, Pitto-bull (Pitbull)" and "Chiam il broker"
Honestly it was jarring

i believe you, friend. Actually, I used to listen to Mariza, a Cape verdean who sang Fado in portuguese. I never noticed any english loanwords in her songs, ma maybe ce na cosa divers

should have ended in season 3

i can understand a modicum of spanish. Any spanish shows youd recommend that are similar?

So how are they supposed to call the pitbull dog?

Fado is a traditional genre, you probably won't hear any english in it ever. Lusophone countries don't do it that much in general, here in Brazil only rappers and people who work in business insert english in the middle of sentences as far as I know.

You tell me, whats the italian word for pitbull, amico?

o sai, I figured as much

German everday language of Millennials and Zoomers has 50x as many anglicisms in the Neapolitan used in Gomorra.

Also, season 1 and 2 were kino, 3 was kind of bad, 4 was lame but i enjoyed it because Patrizia is my favorite character. Don't forget the movie l'immortale, it's like parallel to season 4 and prepares season 5. season 5 is a complete fucking shitshow though, I am sorry to say. It's good to get closure, but the writing completely jumped the shark, sadly.

L'Immortale is my favorite of all seasons.
Hearing russians talk shit about Latvia was funny

Saviano is based and Gomorrah is by far the best mafia show/movie/fiction ever produced, despite the horrible fifth season, precisely because season 1+2 are believable, don't romanticize this shit and are based on true events.

>Gomorrah is by far the best mafia show/movie/fiction ever produced
maybe in europe but the godfather blows it completely away

What's the american word for schnauzer?
>let me tell you about your country

you can watch old italian movies and hear some of that. For example this is a movie from 1961. At 0:50 the guy says "business" (bisinissi).

More anglicisms have been added with time, but it's not always for things you would expect, and they don't always have the same meaning in English.
