Nearly half the population is lacking any substantial savings and is nearly 1-2 paychecks away from homelessness and bankruptcy. Free: the US is in the top quarter, but not near the top, and dropping quickly. Tolerant: same. Prosperous: barely in the top half, average US resident is worse off than most countries. Average citizen of Europe has real healthcare, secure retirement, and money in the bank.
