It only used that meme as cope after sanctions killed Rhodesia's ability to hyperfocus on cash crops for exports so it had to presort to growing wheat which made much less money and only had a few allies to sell it to. Wheat that other parts of Africa already grew in high amounts. Even in the cash crop front, Western Africa was making a lot of moeny off cocoa.
