The patagonian coast can be pretty nice to visit, lots of virgin ocean to fish in and find stuff on, as well as do sports/whale sighting/whatever.
There are also many random lakes in the middle of the steppes where people regularly plant salmon and rainbow trouts and they are great for fishing (lake Musters for example).
Other than that you can go hunting for guanacos, armadillos or rabbits, and there are plenty of places where people go climbing and other things like that, for example in pic related.

I found sheep. Is there a lot of agricultural stuff that goes on there?
Matthew Nguyen
near the cordillera there are nice touristic cities like San Marton de los Andes, Bariloche, Villa la Angostura, but the desertic part is pretty much empty, there's oil and a couple mediom size cities but it's not very populated
Luis Brown
Patagonian desert should be a giant forest of pinus (they are able to survive in these conditions) It would look good.

you can't grow crops, because of soil, yes, there's people living there, mostly indian descendant. There are no cities, maybe small towns. Theres not much going on there because no one want to live there, you are on your own while there.
far south always been like that, trees will die or wont grow at all.

Not really, theres plenty of pine plantations in many places in the desert, if you go on google earth you can find many, they look like picrel, but theres just not enough interest in developing it and honestly, theres just so much land and so little people that youd need a massive investment to get it all looking liek that

When i was a kid a Guanaco herd moved around my car. I also sighted ñandus, whale and cóndor.
