Munjungan -> Panggul was probably the most beautiful road I have ever cycled. Great sights when your start going downhill to Panggul. On the way up though I was resting and a coconut farmer came up to me and asked if I wanted a coconut, I said yes and he climbed all the way up a tree and picked one for me. Really kind man. We talked a bit and apparently he also farms goat fodder.

Saw pine trees at the top of the mountain east of Panggul with pine needles and pine cones scattered on the ground. This combined with the cool breeze almost made it feel like home for a second. I really love pine trees and didn't even know they existed here. This is the only time I saw them in Indonesia. They disappeared with lower altitude though. And doesn't Panggul sound like a Korean place name? Nice place nevertheless.

This is no joke though. I eat as many free meals as paid meals at this point. It usually starts with them getting really impressed when they learn I can speak Indonesian (that I speak it badly doesn't matter) and then they offer me food or drink so they can talk with me and I always try to accept.

Pure suffering as beginner and just an annoyance as a well trained cyclist. I can do up to maybe around 7% incline indefinitely, more than that I can only sustain for short periods and have to eventually start walking the bike which is a must sometimes in these extremely steep hills.

I try to go for 200k idr range. Sometimes this doesn't exist though sich as yesterday where I slept in a 100k idr hotel as that was the only one. Still fine honestly though.

DAS RITE
On a serious note, I’m pretty sure it’s legal to abort babies here if the mother can die from carrying the fetus.
