It's even bigger today. Different, but bigger.
At least here in Sweden. Bands like Marduk, Dark Funeral, Watain, Offermod, Naglfar, Valkyrja and many more are huge here.
I got to metal festivals like Sweden Rock, Metallsvenskan, Muskelrock, Gefle Metal Festival and Skogsröjet every year and the BM bands pull the second largest crowds after melodeath (Amon Amarth, Meadows End etc) and stuff like Nightwish, Sabaton and Brothers Of Metal.
It's always sold out not long after sales go up.
But the BM scene is no longer a bunch of dudes burning churches and killing people. It's mostly chill these days.
