there is a city in Sardegna called l'Alguer that has been historically Catalan-speaking since the crown of Aragon conquered the island. But the language is dying out there, it's basically old people that speak it

In the US we knocked down our historic city centers to make room for cars. He points out that that was a stupid move and actually counterproductive. It did not help the economy of the cities. It did not help improve traffic flow.
Things like expanding highways only end up making traffic worse.

Building your cities around cars (and exclusively cars) is a dumb idea because it doesn't end up making things more convenient for cars, it just costs a ton of public money and causes pollution.
