Most civilians just don't need guns.
Usually only hunters go through the legal stuff to get a gun.
But otherwise what would you need a gun for, there isn't such a level of crime that you'd realistically need guns to protect yourself. I mean, if there's a brawl between two guys fighting with fists, you don't bring guns with that, unless you're a nervous manlet with a small dick who needs guns to be feel safe.

Not really a need for it in Ireland outside of hunting and protecting farm animals/pets from dangerous wildlife in the countryside so it's not that common that people apply for it
