I used to have a sikh friend at school who told me that he hated how uncritically westerners saw sikhs and that growing up in sikh dominated areas in india was hell
Also he mocked some of the sikh gurus but I forgot which one he specifically hated

I hate Punjabis in general but i suppose they're alright compare to the Hindus and the far worse muslim Punjabis even though the online dispora Sikh are also really fucking annoying.

Idk about drug problem I mean in terms of an extremely oppressive conservative society

theyre cool and generous especially their temples help out a lot during natural disasters

I studied them in a world religions class. I learned about the 5 K's etc. I still don't really get the appeal of it but they do got a pretty good religion even though it kinda comes across as manufactured in a "tik all the boxes to be a religion" sort of way.
Like it came across as basically a compromise between being sort of Hindu while sort of Muslim. What do sikhs believe about history of man and what they call god?

That's how they started but modern Sikhism has been largely shaped by the experience of the community amid persecution and war causing them to become very militarised. Even today they form a big part of the Indian army despite being 2% of population.
