really like names such as "eagle grove"
For me, it's Sac City
Why are they like this?
we have 4 moscows, and a couple st. petersbergs, how many do you have?
I would unironically like to visit places like these, travel by car from coast to coast
BUMP
I used to work for an ag company in Iowa and I've driven through every single town in that pic. It's gotten weird now because they've modernized so many of the highways to improve traffic flow by directing them around the town itself, whereas you used to drive right down the main street when you passed through town. Some connection feels lost in this change.
>floyd county
m o g g e d
>sac city
what are those towns like?
do they have cute girls there?
Oozes SOVL
fourth rome
>what are those towns like?
It's a mix of cozy and depressing; the decline in agricultural employment and increasing urbanization means that there isn't the population base to support the cultural institutions that many of these towns built during the late 19th and early 20th century. No more local schools, fewer and fewer annual cultural celebrations. Little restaurants being supplanted by the nearest fast food. The changing climate may leave them really hurting in 20 years' time. But there's still people who put in the effort to preserve local history and culture, even if it's silly to outsiders (like ). People still bring fresh produce into town to sell at pop-up markets, even if they do it more as a hobby than as a primary source of income.
>do they have cute girls there?
Yes, but it can be hard to see them past the landwhales.
That shit looks so comfy
Because appalachia is the fourth rome and we are the fourth romans
