Russia became poor in the 90s because it sold out to evil foreigners.
Russia started developing in the 2000s because President Putin (PBUH) took power and kicked them out.
Ignore any contradicting information.
Russia became poor in the 90s because it sold out to evil foreigners
why did retarded monkey have to cook up shit in 2014... it's over...
same thing happened to us, Adrianu
the "shock" transition to market economy was a complete disaster. it had to be done in another way or never done at all (preferable)
>same thing happened to us
Woah, did it now?
Was Russia rich before the 90's? Anyway, I kneel to Putin for eliminating corruption
KGB took over russia in 90s they only care about enriching themself.
>I kneel to Putin for eliminating corruption
he just replaced organized crime with government corruption
the factories were privatizated in suspicious way. most of the newly born businessmen were unable (or had no intention at all) to compete on free market scale, so the machinery got scrapped and sold out. this resulted in mass unemployment and fiscal problem escalating in 1997 BG hyperinflation and default.
I was there. I remember. I got scarred for life.
>ayo nice superpower bro might if i take it for a spin
Very curious how all these countries from the former Eastern bloc seem to have followed a similar course of development.
It's almost as if the Russian national narrative about the 90s is an elaborate propaganda piece propped up by their government.
We tried the second way - not to do it at all. We kept running out heavily indebted and inefficient national industries so that "people would have jobs". The result was a second economic collapse in 1996 and forced privatization
there was a plan for bulgaria's market transition by american economists that later became infamous in here for recommending the reduction of many social perks. but the main thing is that they recommend a "shock, instant transition". and this didn't work.
I wonder why privatization went over so smoothly in countries like Czechia, Slovenia and Estonia but somehow the evil Americans wanted to destroy us specifically with their fancy "free market". It's almost like it's our own fault for being corrupt fucks
it didnt went smoothly, czechs call this privatization period "vytunelování" (syphoning). Their rich people like Babis and this guy which bought Globul and the TVs are all products of the privatization period. it's just that the west was helping them and we had the yugoslavs chimp out.
The fall of the eastern bloc was a mistake. Although not for the reason commies think. It was bad for the native people there and their race.
it was implemented (or tried) in most of the former commie block countries. The plan sounds good on paper but when you applied to the real world where there is corruption and self serving bureaucracies it doesn't work well.
shock therapy worked for poland
t. totally not balcerowicz
>I wonder why privatization went over so smoothly in countries like Czechia, Slovenia and Estonia
More integreated to west
>Czechoslovakia
Only got rolled over by commies in 60s and they werent any backwater of europe before that either
>Slovenia
Switzerland of balkans, instead of killing eachothers they were into banking
>Estonia
The most free part of soviet union, tallin received finnish tv signals and they had clear plan how to develop their country after it all collapsed
Estonia was kept afloat by Finnish vodka tourism. I did my part
why didnt eastern europe keep some strategic industries nationalized? Like state owned mineral exploration
