Nobody really cared about the Jews until quite a bit into the war. It was useful propaganda for the allies as the Jews would also then bankroll the war effort in the west. Case of tail wagging the dog here, there was no Gypsy lobby in the US.

And neither was Hitler seen as a devil at the beginning of the war. He was considered just a normal politician (simply a right-wing one) you could negotiate with and that's why Chamberlain went to fuckin Munich. His image as a devil, not human, insane man was only born later on when Jewish genocide was already exposed.

that was exactly my point, Hitler became the synonym of the devil not because he killed millions of people but because he killed millions of Jews. If he started WW2 and expanded eastwards only killing Slavs, Gypsies and other people but not Jews, he would have easily gotten off with that and now he'd be remembered as a great leader and statesman same like Turks did with Armenian genocide, Japanese did with Chinese/Korean genocide and dozens of other examples from history.
