It do be like that.

The US is really big though

And then they cope by saying only criminal and violent poor people take public transportation oh no no no

The American freight rail network is one of the most reliable and robust on the planet. It’s just our passenger rail that sucks.

>American logistics companies consider hamburger transport the most important priority

>walkable cities
>public transportation

It’s just that for passengers, short trips are done via car and long trips by plane. In fact, part of why things are more expensive in Europe is because your freight rail networks are shitty and everything there is transported by truck from your ports.

PLEASE WATCH MORE VIDEO ESSAYS ABOUT WHY USA BAD CARS BAD AND WHY PODS GOOD PUBLIC TRANSPORT GOOD

It's true.
However the pacific rail is nice as it passes right by the ocean and makes for a beautiful trip.

>everything there is transported by truck from your ports.
It's an hour drive from one of the biggest ports of the world to supermarket, I don't see the issue.

If people wanted to ride long distance passenger trains freight companies would run them, but people don't.

there is not a railroad into ireland nor is there one into the sea
europe is actually terribly designed, it wasn't designed at all (but i prefer it that way)

It is

>DUDE WHY DON'T AMERICANS BUILD RAILROADS THAT GO THROUGH LARGE MOUNTAIN RANGES AND RUGGED TERRAIN

That's not how it works. A lot of infrastructure projects suffer losses, even when it comes to airports only a handful turn over a profit and those tend to be the privatized ones (like London Heathrow, as opposed to the other London Airports). Local and national governments are willing to suffer those losses because they often result in increases to the economy that will result in more productive labor to be taxed.

For example, one of the biggest predictors of the poor increasing their standing is access to public transportation.

In other words no matter how high the demand is or how high the social gain may be, the private sector won't intervene because there's no profit to be made. And that's completely discounting that the private sector dismantled America's public transportation in the 1950s.

While there's still controversy about the true story, a convincing case can be made for GM dismantling public transportation to force the American consumer to buy more cars.

Infrastructure is one of those things governments are necessary for.

That explains why there's no HSL going from LA to Boston, but it doesn't explain why there's no HSL lines connecting major cities along the West Coast or New England or the major cities of Texas. Keep in mind all those areas are roughly the size of Germany or France and New England at the very least has a pretty high population density.

>People need the government for infrastructure.
Most American infrastructure is privately owned. The electrical grid, telecommunications, railroads, pipeline, etc. are all privately owned. Literally roads are the only thing publicly owned.

Most countries in Europe are tiny and close to the ocean, yes, but it’s not the case for all of them. Freight rail is a more efficient way of moving cargo in bulk overland in any case. Would certainly help landlocked shitholes like Hungary

The US as a whole dont need a well developed railroad system but having the ability to ride a train from Miami to the very eastern point of Maine sounds comfy
Same with San Diego > Seattle

>WOAAAH EUROPE IS SUPERIOR BECAUSE LE WALKABLE BIKABLE CITIES!!!!! DID YOU KNOW THAT TRAIN FROM PARIS TO BERLIN TAKES ...
who gives a shit lmao fuck off

That's because the private sector can't build roads

I forgot Airplanes aren't considered public transportation by Europeans, even though they are just flying boats that don't require rail or roads which ruin land.

But hey.. Let's fuck out tens of thousands of miles of farmland so we can have slower moving public transportation and watch a billion people starve.
Seriously. Let's just do it. Let's starve the rest of the world to death so we don't have to deal with their shitty trolling. Just blow up the panama canal and suez, drop a nuke of the rock to seal up the med for a while.

I don't care anymore , let them all die so we can have fast choo choo trains. weeeeee weeee weeeee look my train is fast
