why do people die for and have extreme emotional attachments to temporary social constructs which change overtime that they tie their own personal identity and family identity to it?
2,000 years ago most of the identities in use today did not exist and less even maybe like 300 years ago most of the identities were not in use today yet many people in their head have these identities as eternal and of ultimate value like say serbs or croats.
Your own personal identity and family, too, are social constructs which change overtime.
Cameron Jones
Imagine a Latin mans descendant in Gaul dying for the kingdom of France 2,000 years later in WW1.

I wish the Roman Empire never failed.

Because our quality of life is tied to those countries. If your country gets invaded by another country, you and your loved one's safety could be compromised, your land or other belongings could be stolen, your rights could be reduced. That's why your country exists to protect yourself and other citizens, and your quality of life.
Josiah Brooks
Why would you wish that? The Romans genocided your people.
Charles Hall
How does something being a social construct make it any less real?

>Your own personal identity and family, too, are social constructs which change overtime. Sure, but they are people who I actually share a bond with and history with thus distinguishing them from strangers.
Brandon Johnson
those constructs are a replacement for the tribe, which we had for like 70,000 years at least
Wyatt Morris

Idk but I wish we were still called Lusitania, it sounds cooler. But to answer your question no one cares about the politics and or whatever people bond with each other because they have a similar culture and a similar way of life and form a group identity because humans are social and tribal animals you incel intoid autistic freak. Individualists can't understand nations because they can't understand basic human nature
Gavin Allen
Embrace tribalism
Gavin Robinson
why should you hold extreme emotional attatchment as if this identity such as "bulgaria" has been something of importance since the start of human history and your entire history as humans?
Xavier Nelson

it is okay for someone to love their fellow people.

>rome stays unified and remains the unchallenged hegemon of the western hemisphere >becomes stagnant and turns into china 2.0
Ethan Lee
you probably shouldn't have "extreme" attachment to it. But being an active part of a community, including defending it from outsiders, is shown to be a healthy way of life. But we're talking 100-15- people, not millions
Isaiah Sanders
having a self defense force to protect from military invasion in alliance with many people is beneficial. But believing that your identity is literally some random noun that has a military and tax collection is foolish.
Eli Miller
people attach their identities to random timulus surrounding them thats how you build your worldview. you receive stimulus and get attached to it.
