GDP and all other standard measurements for development etc which are (usually) self reported from non-western countries are usually fictitious. Nah he's absolutely right, GDP ignores the complexity of the underlying economy and industrial capacity, Singapore has a high GDP yet its all in banking and virtually no relevant industry. If a major power decides to invade them then all the PMCs in the world won't be able to save them.
