god i hated that shit so much, went to Malta years ago to actually visit the place but ended up in San Giljan above a disco that blasted 130db music til 3 a.m.

You think tourism in Malta started last week? If we actually catered for tourism of quality instead of quantity, like we used to, this would not be needed. Valletta was dead for decades yet tourism was still doing well.

Quality is better but not everyone can do quality
I can easily open a bnb in a shitty apartment and people would still come every day of summer but I can’t open a 4-5 star hotel because I don’t know how and I don’t have a building to my name

We used to, but then the era of cheap flights and cheap tourists came along. All that it's important now it muh records of people arriving here. You might be ok with turning a nation into a dump for more money, but I'm not.

More money? Not if they sit at a table for a half an hour and having bought just a single Fanta bottle because that's the kind of tourists we're getting now because who else would visits this dump after we've turned it into a dump anyway.

Unfortunately you need those kind of people too because they make Malta or any store they go in “full” and people are more inclined to go in said stores or countries when they see a lot of people going

But what's the point of having the stores full if they're not spending much? Trying to attract people by having your store full sounds weird in my opinion.
