Depends on the pub but at the ones I go to a pint costs around 5-6€. With that price I could buy like three times the amount of beer at a shop.

$3.00 to $4.50 in Ontario at a liquor store. There are cheaper and more expensive options, but most beer ends up in this range. You're looking at around $5.50 minimum for a pint at a restaurant, expect to pay more. Prices are similar in other provinces.

I just brew my own; I haven't bought beer in months. Costs about $20.00 to $30.00 for ingredients to make 23 L of beer, somewhere around $0.50 to $0.75 per pint by ingredients. The equipment required can get a bit pricey, but with the going price of beer at the liquor store the equipment pays for itself pretty fast. The time investment is also substantial, but if you've got the free time then it's worth it.
