Suburbs get pretty decent traffic from delivery trucks, lawn/contracting businesses, dump trucks, etc. If the neighborhood is between two main roads, people will drive through it at double the speed limit as a shortcut.
Hell, I routinely see parents flying through stop signs at 30-40 MPH in their own neighborhood.

How many of these houses have basketball hoops? Pools? Trampolines? Nets for batting practice? Finished basements to play pool, darts, watch movies, play games? Slip and slides? Yards to run around in? If you’re lucky like I was, there’s a forest and farmer’s field to play manhunt in.

In America, you tended to make friends around your neighborhood. When I was a kid, there was almost always a handful of other kids around the same age in any neighborhood and you’d meet up with them to play and stuff. Maybe that’s worse now because kids don’t go outside as much or because or there are just less kids but it was never an issue when I was young.
