I live in the worst state to be a young person

I live in the worst state to be a young person.

I can already tell this thread is going to descend into inane chud bullshit & racism

Why?
When I was younger and dreamed of immigrating to US I wanted to go to Maine or some other New England state.

Yeah but the best state to be murdered by an interdimensional monster

so move to Massachusetts, bitch.

kek i forgot you guys existed. god damn you're so far up, your american status is questionable. what do you even do up there these days?

Why? This has nothing to do with race or politics.

My state is intensely odd. It used to be a great trade off, you got a nice New England life while basically living in a rural bogan state. Now we're basically becoming North Massachusetts. Housing is completely unaffordable. And yet I read an article recently that said we have the highest house vacancy rate. And as a young person, there is little to nothing to do and the dating scene is absolutely abysmal. The reasons to live here are quickly evaporating. I feel like I'm paying Boston area prices but I'm not even living in Boston. My sister and her husband moved to the Midwest last year. I have no clue why I'm still. I can trace my ancestors to the first settlers in Maine, but I'm thinking it's time for me to break the streak.

Desert shitholes has to be worse, like nevada, new mexixo and arizona

I never could get laid in the northeast USA, but had no problems in Ohio or Florida
idk how people live there their whole life as a man there

>nevada, new mexixo and arizona
all more affordable and have large cities where you can have a social life. although Albuquerque seems lacking in my experience. meanwhile the largest city in my state only has 66k population and I don't even go there anymore because of how shit it's become.

66k lmao what how?

>whitest state in america
you don't suffer

west virginia is more white
the problem is that most white americans are fat as fuck, when they have to compete against browns and yellows, they have a motivation to lose weight. without competition, they become fat cows

>chud bullshit & racism

...

Indeed. I'm surprised we don't have school shooters because of how isolating and frigid it can all be. I guess we're just less manic and too busy overdosing on opioids.

It's terrible. I believe only Vermont is worse in that regard (I think Burlington has like 40k population)

I actually was just thinking about this. I’m from PA and always had a crush for New England, as I visited Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine in my childhood. However, I recently went last week to NH to go hiking, and I just got this sensation of how fucking lonely it felt, especially with all the old people. It didn’t feel like a thriving rural area with young people doing whatever. Felt old as fuck and that gave me a feeling that if you are young, you’re isolated. Made me glad to come back home. Nature is incredible but I always get that depressing northern New England provincialism whenever I visit

Do everyone just live in suburbs, maine still has over million people. In europe it would be normal to have city with population over 250k with population big as maine. Example lapland has 8x less people than maine but capital has similar population, 64k.

New England looks like heaven, like the Sims town or something

From what I understand, europe has a sharp drop off from city to rural. In America, you have city, massive suburbs, then rural. The “greater Portland metropolitan area” actually has 580k+ people, but it’s spread out across suburbs. In that sense, you can almost look at the northeast megalopolis as one giant city

>largest city
>66k
I would kill to live in your state

most "cities" are so small that they are practically towns. Southern Maine has the largest population, with the Bangor area up north being a notable exception. most people live in small towns located near larger towns in Southern Maine. for example, I currently live in Gray which has 8k, and is located right between Portland (66k) and Lewiston (36k). right below me is a town with 18k. I'd consider my area a suburb of Portland.

Cities are very small and fisherfolk image and mentality attracts lonelier types since normies move south or west.

Their is actually studies that show people with schizotypal disorders tend to move to mountains or fisher towns.

be careful what you wish for. the solution to your problems is not always the opposite. there has to be a middle ground between this overcrowding and the isolation I experience.

Very interesting, new england is so pretty

It does sound dull if you don't live a rich, preppy lifestyle

Imagine Finland without any of the benefits

Are you going to move out? Honestly I had considered moving north to NH or ME but after visiting I realized I’d probably get lonely and bored after the novelty of nature wore off

Why? Maine seems like one of the best states.

I would really like to but I feel stuck. Professionally I feel so tied and out of my wheelhouse to make a big move. But it's gnawing at my psyche enough to make me genuinely consider it.

Das it maine

If you hate it you probably don't blend in to the mental culture. America is by now unique and big enough where people with diff personalities move to areas they feel similar too if they choose to leave.

Rural new england vibes seem similar to rocky mountain types. Def different from southerners and midwesterners who I find are often mundane and drawn to conformism.

West coast still draws lots of open minded types who want to build something different but was ruined when ordinary east coasters followed the adventurers brought forth a control desire with them.

Unironically the best places are college towns with few college students. People are easy going and friendly and not content with doing the same thing over like going to a bar and watching sports games, so there is interesting events that happen.
T. Lived in almost 12 diff cities in the last 30ish years.

not for a young person, it's easily the worst. if you're a retired boomer then I'm sure you're having a blast here. I and my generation are very much not.

so you have a stable career and still think you suffer, just another weak minded fool who doesn't deserve to be where he is.
