ok i can read hiraganas comfortably. next step would be to learn all katakana then kanjis. or maybe i should skip kanji and start learning meaning of words first?

read the sticky bruv

Not him but it's lacking in resources to improve listening comprehension. As things stand now, they all talk in lightspeed with many a vocabulary and grammar blurring together into white noise. Even with Japanese subtitles it's tough to mentally parse things.

just listen more
what do you mean lacking in resources
just go to YouTube, set the country to Japan and watch many different videos for hours.
there is no magical resource that will level up your listening comprehension, the only method is to just spend a lot of time listening to the language

The good news is you just have to watch and listen more

I see, thanks for answering!

Thank you very much, though I was afraid of that. I'm guessing if reading takes two years, listening takes over twice that. By the way, I attempted Cardcaptor Sakura. Found myself rewinding the first five minutes or so way too many times. I heard there was some Anki add-on or whatever that snags audio and/or subtitles from videos and turns them into cards. A CCS deck may be worth considering if it'll keep me from having to pause every other second to look up an unknown word from the subtitles. Just watch and focus without interruption and hope I get a feel for the finer details. Comprehensible Input, I think it's called.

>learn vocabulary from a list of words
>takes a long time to learn
>learn vocabulary reading manga or something
>learn it immediately
Holy hell, I abstained from reading because I didn't think my skill was good enough, and it really isn't but you really do learn vocabulary so much better by reading things you don't even understand

What are some good mangas for that?

It depends on your skill level, I am not very good and I read a bit of Berserk at a snail's pace. Maybe start with a children's manga and move up from there?

Can't say I'm into Vtubers of any sort but are they really recommended around these parts? VODs may do but I won't attend a livestream anytime soon. No way to rewind when I inevitably miss what they said due to the aforementioned lightspeed talking.
