i have ancestry in pontus, ismirn, bulgarian and romania(slavophone greek minorities there), and serbia ( slavophone vlach)

my family lives in a village 7 kilometers from the skopian border(pic related)

is muttification common in greece? i mean between mainlanders and pontics, mainlanders and anatolian/cappadocians, or islanders

based on population exchange back in 1910s, roughly %20 of Greece had some Pontician or Cappadocian/Anatolian heritage

there is little social barrier to it, it is just that they live in different places that usually prevents this

maybe in athens where people from many places migrated to in the past but not in other regions more rarely

for example when i visited crete they litterally refered to me as "the macedonian" intead than by my name

pontian greek and slavophone greek mix is kind of common where i live nowdays because we are litterally living 500 meters from each other

bassically the region had slavophones in 1920 and they put a bunch of refugees from turkey in between, not just pontians, like one village would be pontian, one from ismirn, one thracian and there would be another 3 slavophone villages in bewteen

the three refugees vilages didnt have problems mixing even from second generation but there was some coldness between them and the slavophones that continued even in the 80s when my father was young there

nowdays the slavophone villages dont actually speak slavic anymore( exept from some babuskhas in the balconies) and relationships happen between them and the refugee villages
