Their interpretation of the 60's civil rights era is that lynchings were happening when seemingly normal middle class (some high school boys on their way back from football practice, a housewife taking the baby to the park, a business man taking lunch at a hotdog cart) people going about their business in crowded urban areas would see a black person walking around minding their business and would lose all control of their faculties and start trying to kill the black person in a violent craze.
