Protagonist voice actor was too old and fat to be Beowulf in a live action.

Film is weird.
It touches on some interesting themes, but nevermind actually develops any of them.
It wants to deconstruct the original poem but never commits to either realism of fantasy
Also, it looked terrible. Even Final Fantasy looked better

I think there's an appeal to the ugly animation style of this and stuff like Ultramarines but it's a limited audience pool that will enjoy it.
You have to be into grotesque shit.

It kinda worked there because 40K aesthetic is about exaggeration; Beowulf seemed to be going for photorealism and failed at it

But yeah I remember him saying that line and it sounded very anticlimatic as he proclaimed his name. He does that a few times in the movie too, same diction and deflation at the end.
Adam Ward
Correct. Also to get rid of neil gayman as a writer.
Blake Parker
In many ways it's a complete inversion of the morality of the poem. I didn't realize it until I read Tolkein's notes. I didn't like his translation though, it wasn't published in his lifetime.
The animated HBO adaption has been the best so far imo: youtube.com
