Stan is by far the best father out of these. Cleveland is just passive as fuck, Homer strangles his own kid and spends all his free time at some dingy bar, and Peter is literally retarded and bonds with Chris about three times in the entire show. American Dad has tons of episodes about Stan fathering Steve in one way or another, and Steve is the most well rounded kid out of all of their kids.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what the appeal of this show is supposed to be.

Steve has the benefit of being a mostly consistent character. He loves his family and unlike Peter isn’t written to be as hateful as possible. I wouldn’t even consider Peter a character he’s written as dumb or as smart as the joke demands.

Yeah in my opinion it's just comfy: the show.
